The Challenge
Outschool, with its mission to set learning free, aims to break through barriers to education by increasing access and giving control back to learners. The platform offers a vast array of live online classes for kids, covering diverse interests and subjects.
As Outschool grew rapidly, we faced two significant challenges: creating a seamless, valuable experience for families seeking personalized learning opportunities, and developing a cohesive brand identity that reflected our mission and values.
The sheer volume and variety of classes on Outschool’s marketplace made it difficult for families to easily find, evaluate, and schedule classes. Additionally, our brand needed to evolve to better communicate our unique approach to learning and appeal to both families and educators.

The Solution
To address these challenges, I led two interconnected initiatives. First, we redesigned the user experience, collaborating with families and educators to improve class discovery and scheduling. We focused on presenting content effectively, solving scheduling issues, and streamlining the platform for high-demand needs.
Second, I spearheaded a comprehensive brand redesign. Working with our Head of Design and Geist agency, we developed a new visual identity, messaging framework, and brand guidelines that better reflected Outschool’s mission to empower learners and celebrate curiosity.
Our efforts led to significant improvements:
• Enhanced user experience: Improved content discovery, presentation, and class scheduling for families
• Increased engagement: Boosted learner satisfaction and created a unique, interest-driven learning marketplace
• Strengthened brand: Developed a cohesive, vibrant identity that resonated with our audience and improved brand recognition
